Numerical Patterns and “Coincidences” in the King James Bible.
The number 7 is widely recognized as God’s perfect number. “And on the SEVENTH day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the SEVENTH day from all his work which he had made.” Genesis 2:2.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. The seventh word from the beginning of the New Testament is the name JESUS (Matthew 1:1) And the seventh word from the last verse in the New Testament is JESUS. (Revelation 22:21.)
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Matthew 1:1
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21.
The Name Jehovah is found in the King James Bible 7 times. (Genesis 22:14; Exodus 6:3; 17:15; Judges 6:24; Psalms 83:18; Isaiah 12:2 and Isaiah 26:4.
The title of the Lord Jesus Christ as “the Word” is found 7 times in the King James Bible.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 - “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
And in 1 John 1:1 “the Word of life”, 1 John 5:7 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
And in Revelation 19:13 “And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.”
The name JEHOVAH is found all in capital letters 4 times (Exodus 6:3; Psalms 83:18; Isaiah 12:2 and Isaiah 26:4), and the name JESUS all in capital letters is found 4 times.
Matthew 1:21 - “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for he shall save his people from their sins.”
Matthew 1:25 - “And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.”
And it is found twice more when it was written over his head as he hung on the cross as his accusation - This is JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.” (Matthew 27:37 and John 19:18).
If we compare all the capitalized words that refer to GOD, the LORD, I AM, JAH, KING, the BRANCH (Isaiah 11:1; Jeremiah 23:5; 33:15 and Zechariah 3:6 and 6:12), JESUS and JEHOVAH the total number of times these words referring to the Godhead are found is 7777 times. (Just another “coincidence”, right?)
The name JESUS itself, when referring to the Son of God is found 980 times. So, how does this relate to the number seven? Well, in Matthew 18:21-22 Peter asks the Lord how many times he should forgive his brother that sins against him, till SEVEN times? But the Lord replies “I say not unto them Until seven times; but Until SEVENTY times SEVEN.”
And 70 x 7 = 490. And 70 x 7 plus 70 x 7 is 980. This is grace multiplied by 2 and the Lord Jesus is the Second person of the blessed Trinity and “the second man” (1 Corinthians 15:47) - “the second man is the Lord from heaven.”
As the apostle John says in his gospel - “And of his fulness have all we received, and GRACE FOR GRACE.”
Further biblical, numerical testimony to the King James Bible.
Deuteronomy 8:3 + Matthew 4:4 + Luke 4:4 = 1611
Here is another "coincidence" that is ONLY true of the King James Bible and testifies to the sovereign hand of God upon this amazing Book like no other.
King James Bible 1611 = "every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God"
"Man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD."
In the King James Bible this verse occurs three times. It is found in Deuteronomy 8:3 - "man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live."
Matthew 4:4 - "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD."
Luke 4:4 - "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD."
So in the King James Bible we have a total of THREE witnesses all saying the same thing about how man shall live by "every word of God that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4.
If we take the chapter and verse numbers of these three witness and add them together by chapter and verse, we end up with 1611. Chapters 8 + 4 + 4 = 16 and Verses 3 + 4 + 4 = 11, thus 1611.
I believe we can see the miraculous hand of God - who himself is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End - on the King James Bible, and that He has worked in history to give us a perfect Book that has this same pattern in the Beginning and the End of His Book.
Genesis 1:1 KJB - "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Revelation 22:21 KJB - "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."
BOTH verses in the King James Bible have 44 letters and of these 17 are vowels and 27 of them are consonants.
This cannot be done with the NKJV because it does not read as does the King James Bible in Genesis 1:1.
The NKJV says: "In the beginning God created the heavenS and the earth."
And it certainly cannot be done with versions like the ASV, NASB, ESV, NIV, Holman or NET, which differ even among themselves. See the whole article here -
One more numerical witness to the King James Bible.
In the last two verses of the entire Bible, Revelation 22:20-21 we read:
“20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”
Here we have in the final two verses of the entire Bible 2 verses wherein the first verse contains a total of 16 words and the last verse contains 11 words plus the word Amen, which means “so be it”. 1611 Amen. This cannot be done with versions like the NKJV, NIV, NASB, NET, etc.
There are a lot more textual and theological reasons for believing the King James Bible is God’s only complete and inerrant words of truth and grace in the English language, but these numerical examples also serve as additional proof of the hand of God upon this Bible like no other.
Verse Numbering in the Bible.
I think God must have an ironic sense of humor in the way He bears witness to the Absolute Standard of His written words in the King James Bible, and the bible agnostics just can't get around this silent witness.
The first English Bible translation to divide the 66 individual books that make up our Bible into numbered chapters and verses was the Geneva Bible of 1557. However the Geneva Bible did NOT have the same numbering system we find in the King James Bible.
For instance, I have two hard copies of the Geneva Bible; the 1599 complete Geneva Bible and the 1602 Geneva New Testament. Both have the same numbering system for its chapters and verses.
In Luke 15 the KJB has 32 verses, but the Geneva combined verses 31 and 32 into verse 31 and all it has are 31 verses instead of the 32 found in the King James Bible.
In Romans 1 the KJB has 32 verses, but the Geneva Bible has only 31. It combined verses 30-31 into a single verse 30, and so the Geneva bible only has 31 verses in this chapter instead of the KJB's 32.
In 2 Corinthians 13 the KJB has 14 verses, while the Geneva combined verses 12 and 13 into a single verse 12, and then adds the last verse as v. 13. Thus it has one less numbered verse than the KJB.
In Galatians 1 the KJB has 24 verses, but the Geneva bibles had only 23 numbered verses because they combined verses 21 and 22 into a single verse.
In 2 John the KJB has 13 verses but the Geneva bibles only had 12 numbered verses because they combined verses 11 and 12 into a single verse 11.
And finally in Revelation 12 the KJB has only 17 verses but the Geneva has 18. The Geneva bible took Revelation 13:1, split it into two parts and made it 12:18 and 13:1 respectively.
What is the point of all this? Well, when the King James Bible came out it basically followed the Chapter and Verse number divisions of the previous Geneva Bible but it changed it in a few places and the King James Bible became the Standard.
When the new Westcott-Hort, UBS-Catholic bible versions came on the scene, they omitted many entire verses from the New Testament like Matthew 17:21; 18:11; 23:14, Mark 7:16; 9:44; 9:46, 11:26; 15:28; Luke 17:36; 23:17, John 5:4; Acts 8:37; 24:7; 28:29 and Romans 16:24. So what do these modern "Catholic" bibles like the Revised Version 1885, ASV 1901, NASB, NIV, ESV, RSVs do when they come to these verses? They simply skip the number.
If you are wondering why I refer to versions like the ESV, NIV, NASB, Holman Standard and most modern versions as being the new "Catholic" bibles, see my article called Undeniable Proof the ESV, NIV, NASBs are the new "Catholic" bible versions -
For example, when you look at versions like the ESV or the NIV in Matthew chapter 17 when they get to all these verses they have omitted from their texts, you find them numbering like this: Matthew 17:20, 22. When we read these bogus bible versions we have to conclude one of two things. Either they do not know how to count from one to a hundred and should take a remedial Math class; or they are bearing silent witness to an Absolute Standard of written authority and they fall short of this Standard - "Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found WANTING." (lacking) Daniel 5:26.
Bible translations in hundreds of foreign languages all over the world still follow the Chapter and Verse Numbers found in and first established by the King James Holy Bible. Just another coinkidink, huh? That, or it's the sovereign hand of God bearing witness to His true Book, the only one still believed by thousands to be the inerrant words of God.
All of grace, believing the Book - the King James Holy Bible.
